Fortnite’s OG map is coming back just in time for the holidays
It’s time to hit the griddy, floss, or smash your go-to victory emote — a version of OG Fortnite, the original Chapter 1 Season 1 version of the game, will return as a permanent fixture of the popular battle royale shooter, Epic announced Tuesday. The game mode will launch on Dec. 6, just in time for the holidays.
The OG version of Fortnite will be back, and “here to stay,” the tweet from the official Fortnite account said. Players will be able to explore the original map, collect loot from the original loot pool, and “relive” that early season from the nostalgic era of… 2017. (Maybe if we’re lucky, some of those ancient and prized skins will be making a return as well.)
Epic Games has seen considerable success with the different versions of OG Fortnite. It first launched an OG season in November 2023, which brought the battle royale game back to Chapter 1 Season 5 of the game. At the moment, the game is in the middle of its Chapter 2 Remix, which allows players to experience the Chapter 2 Season 1 map with a few new twists, like an added cast of bosses inspired by IRL celebrity rappers like Snoop Dogg. Both of these events ran for a limited time, though — now, players can rest assured that OG mode will be back for good.
