Devolver Digital put on a parody awards show to announce 3 game delays

Devolver Digital is back on its bullshit today with the Devolver Delayed Awards, a pre-recorded “awards” show dedicated to a trio of games it will be pushing back to 2025.

The show is full of Devolver’s signature snark as the publisher congratulated its developers for having “the courage and determination to delay their games into the next fiscal year.” Here are the winners, and the (fake) nominees:

Best Inadvertent Tripping Simulator

  • Baby Steps
  • Trip Lads
  • Clumsy Wumsy
  • Pub Crawlin’

Best Late-Stage Capitalism Roguelite

  • Multi-level Marketing and Me: A Visual Novel
  • Revenue Quest
  • Stick It to the Stickman
  • Minimum Wage Warlords

Best Glass Demon in a Leading Role

  • Lucifer’s Mirror 2
  • Windshield Repair Simulator
  • The Shattering Part: 2
  • Skate Story

In addition to the fake categories full of fake games (I would totally play Windshield Repair Simulator), the Devolver Delayed Awards also included speeches from the devs behind the actual delayed games, which are all slated to come out sometime in 2025. Skate Story’s Sam Eng broke his dang arm, by the way, so anyone complaining about that game not being out yet needs to chill.

Devolver did something similar in 2023 with a send-up of the Nintendo Direct format. Last year’s Devolver Delayed Showcase joyfully announced delays for games like The Plucky Squire, Stick It to the Stickman, Anger Foot, Pepper Grinder, and Skate Story.

While I’m sure it’s difficult to shrug off these kinds of setbacks from a business perspective, it’s good to see Devolver allow these developers the time they need to adequately fulfill their visions rather than rushing out incomplete projects for a quick buck.

According to Devolver Digital’s official website, the publisher also has games like Possessor(s), Tenjutsu, Human Fall Flat 2, and Forestrike that have yet to receive official launch dates.
