Neil Gaiman exits Good Omens, which will wrap up with a 90-minute TV movie
Good Omens will return to close out its story of an angel and demon against the world, reports Deadline, with creator Neil Gaiman and his production company, Blank Corporation, exiting the production. Amazon Video paused production on a third season of the joint Amazon/BBC series in early September, following the publication of multiple allegations of sexual assault against Gaiman.
According to Deadline’s sources, pre-production will resume without Gaimain, who had served as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Narrativia’s Rob Wilkins, representative of the estate of Good Omens co-creator Terry Pratchett, will continue to executive produce, while Josh Cole, head of comedy for BBC Studios, will also come on board. A new writer will be brought on to “finish up the work” and convert the final season of the series into one 90-minute episode.
The episode will hopefully offer some closure to the mighty Good Omens fandom, after 2023’s season 2 cliffhanger, in which the demon Crowley finally confessed his love to Aziraphale only for the latter to stiffly reject him and take a job in heaven.
Shooting on the episode is expected to begin in early 2025, so it’s possible that fans could get that closure within the year.
